BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Authorities have identified the man who tragically lost his life in a violent rollover crash earlier this week. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 64-year-old Oscar Dupe died Monday following a head-on collision in southeastern Bexar County.
Officials reported that Dupe’s cause of death was blunt force trauma sustained in the wreck. His death has been ruled accidental.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 1:40 p.m. Monday in the 4700 block of East Loop 1604 South, near U.S. Highway 87. Investigators said the incident began when one vehicle collided head-on with another, causing one of the vehicles to roll over.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Dupe was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries. Authorities have not released details regarding the condition of other individuals involved.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash, including whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role. Officials stressed the dangers of head-on collisions, which often result in severe or fatal injuries because of the force of impact. Rollovers, they added, significantly increase the risk of catastrophic outcomes.
Dupe’s death adds to the growing number of traffic fatalities in Bexar County in recent years. Law enforcement and safety advocates continue to urge drivers to stay alert, obey speed limits, and wear seat belts to reduce the likelihood of deadly accidents.
As the investigation continues, authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Oscar Dupe is remembered by his community as his sudden loss serves as a somber reminder of how quickly tragedy can strike on the road.
