ENID, Okla. — Authorities have identified the suspect in Sunday night’s deadly officer-involved shooting at Integris Health Enid Hospital as 46-year-old Dedrick Bloss. The incident left a hospital security officer dead before Bloss was fatally shot by police. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is leading the investigation.
According to OSBI, the chain of events began around 11:00 p.m. on August 17, 2025, when Enid police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call near East Walnut Avenue and North 12th Street. Bloss was identified as the suspect at the scene.
A short time later, officers found Bloss’s vehicle outside Integris Health Enid Hospital. As officers attempted to make contact, Bloss opened fire on them before entering the hospital.
Once inside, Bloss discharged multiple rounds, striking 72-year-old hospital public safety officer J.W. “Jim” Bode, who later died from his injuries. Tributes quickly appeared online honoring Bode as a dedicated and courageous security professional who gave his life in service to others.
Enid police officers confronted Bloss inside the facility, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Bloss was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that no patients, medical staff, or law enforcement officers were injured. The hospital was quickly secured, and officials emphasized there was no further threat to the public.
The OSBI continues to investigate the incident. No additional details have been released at this time.
